Lately, we’ve been getting a lot of inbound from new companies just starting out, asking if brand ambassadors are a good fit for early stage brands.

My take: brand ambassadors aren’t the best first gear.

They’re much more effective as a 3rd or 4th gear accelerant on top of an existing flywheel and system that’s already got momentum.

There are faster, better, and cheaper ways to start a marketing system. Paid search, paid social, partnerships, etc.

Ambassador programs become crazy powerful once you’ve got product-market fit, strong unit economics, and a sizeable customer base with tons of untapped potential waiting to be unlocked.

Once you’re there, the sky’s the limit.
